Preparing for 2010-Take Stock of Your Practice

For many practices December is a slow time of year. With less patients in the office, now is the time to take stock of your practice.Inventory

Use this extra time to take inventory of all your products. Check to make sure that all of your exam lanes are well stocked. Is all of your equipment working the way it should? Do you need to order replacement parts? Now is the time to make sure that your office is set up to run smoothly.

This is also a great opportunity to examine your monthly usage  on all of your basic items? Can you save money next year by ordering larger quantities at a time? Are you maximizing on shipping each time you order supplies? Did you know that UPS charges the same amount to ship a package that is 3 pounds or 10 pounds? If you are frequently ordering only one or two items from different vendors then you could be spending way to much on shipping. Think about consolidating your orders. Getting more supplies from one vendor means that you can spend less on shipping and sometimes you can get great quantity discounts.
