Preparing for 2010-Marketing Strategies

As you prepare your optical practice for a new year make sure you are reviewing your current marketing strategies. Ask yourself and your staff what has worked well in past years. What is working for your right now? Also think about what you need to change. Sometimes a few basic changes can make a big difference.

One thing to consider is the way that you display merchandise. Do you have an vibrant window display that attracts attention and draws in new customers? Make use of brightly colored frames and optical accessories. It is also a good idea to make sure you change your window display regularly. Feature new styles and promotions to draw attention.  Inside the store be sure to show accessories and additional retail options in high traffic areas. Keep a shelf of cleaners and contact lens accessories near your fitting station.

It is also a good idea to review how you will reach out to patients and prospects. Postcards can be used to remind patients about appointments or offer services to new customers.  Make sure that your website is up to date and consider expanding your online presence. Many practices are creating Facebook Fan Pages so that they can reach out to a whole new group of people.
