One of the Amcon sales reps was watching the St. Louis Thanksgiving Day Parade where they interviewed the current Mrs. Missouri who just happens to be an optometrist! Carrie T. Hruza, OD. (the current Mrs. Missouri) is an optometrist who practices at the  Galanis Cataract and Laser Eye Center in the St. Louis suburb of Shrewsbury.

Dr. Hruza is a graduate of Southern College of Optometry, and an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri – St. Louis in the College of Optometry. She is also an Amcon customer.

What really caught our eye, other than her being an optometrist, is that her platform was eye health. Her platform is stated on the Mrs. Missouri web site.

Dr. Hruza’s platform as Mrs. Missouri is increasing the awareness of the need for eye examinations for those with diabetes. Appearances allow her to discuss this important message with many Missourians. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in America. Dr. Hruza wants to spread the word that eye examinations can identify eye disease in diabetics and prompt treatment in a timely fashion which saves vision!

Congratulations Dr. Hruza. You go!
